Homegrown, Honest, and Here for You: How We’re Keeping It Local (and Affordable!)
Here's the scoop—straight-from-the-heart real talk about how tariffs impact our small business.
Who isn't talking tariffs these days? And for good reason. Fans wonder if we will follow Amazon's little tariff tango and list the price increase due to tariffs on our website.
So, first things first: tariffs. Not exactly a word that sparks joy, right? But they're part of the deal when it comes to importing goods, and they have a sneaky way of making decisions that are just a little more complicated than a "yes or no".
We've always been big believers in giving it to you straight—no sugar-coating, no mystery fees, none of that nonsense. But we're also not Amazon (duh). Where they might be crunching data on a mega-corporate scale and waiting for their ships to come in, we're here handcrafting products with love, natural ingredients, and a side of sass.
With all this hullabaloo about tariffs, the timing is perfect for us to present the cherry on top.
Did you know that most of our star-studded ingredients are proudly USA-sourced? That's right; we're not just talking about any ingredients. We're talking about the cream of the crop, straight from small, hardworking American farms that know their soil like we know the secret to your skin's happy dance.
And our packaging? Almost as homegrown as apple pie—and really, nearly as important as what goes inside it, wouldn't you say?
That said, a few ingredients are imported (cocoa butter, for example), which is impacted by more than just tariffs. We mentioned in recent newsletters that a supplier we have been doing business with for almost twenty years has not been able to source some of the ingredients used in the formulation of scents for over eight months; they're closing their doors in June.
And now, to the sweetest bit: we saw the storm clouds gathering on the tariff/economy front, and we got ahead of them. We piled our cart high with supplies at pre-current president (47) pricing, like snagging a Black Friday deal on a Tuesday afternoon. We got most of what we need to carry us for a year.
At some point in the future, we will be affected by shortages, price increases, new laws, and taxes. It's inevitable. Until then, as promised, our 2024 pricing remains the same for 2025.
At the end of the day, our job is simple: to make sure you trust us, love what we create, and never feel blindsided by a price tag. Your trust means the world to us, and we're constantly working behind the scenes to keep that trust and to keep things fair.
Let's be real. We're also here to make magic happen for your skin, not to play hide-and-seek with your bank balance. With ingredients as local as your neighborhood farmers' market and a price point as comforting as your grandma's quilt, we're staying true to what makes LoLo, well, LoLo.
So, while (at the time of this writing) Amazon has walked back their initial idea and small businesses are closing right and left due to a multitude of reasons, including tariffs, we're here watching, wrestling with the details, and poring over our unique position like it's our favorite book.
